Speaker 1:I just got back from visiting Leavenworth, washington, which is like this Christmas town up in the state of Washington. There was a ton of snow, got to go skiing at Stevens Pass, had a lot of fun I was there with my wife and kids and we had a bunch of friends up there as well and glad to be back home and, you know, getting back to it. So today we're going to be talking about mission planning, okay. So if you're a busy man who's, you know, tired of, you know, spinning your wheels with weight loss, then this episode is for you. And we're not talking about mission planning for combat. We're talking about mission planning for your health. Because here's the deal Weight loss isn't about just looking good. Yeah, looking good is awesome, but it's not what it's all about. Okay, it's about being there for your family, being proud of the man that you see in the mirror and knowing that you're setting yourself up for decades of vitality and a strong quality of life, you wouldn't wing a business deal or some type of important presentation. So why would you wing your health? Today, I'm going to give you a step-by-step system to plan for success. Okay, you're going to overcome obstacles and you're going to execute like a motherfucking Navy SEAL. So by the end of this episode, you'll have the tools to stop guessing and to start dominating your weight loss mission.
Speaker 1:Now, why does mission planning work for weight loss? Well, anything that's important needs a plan. In the SEAL teams, we didn't have any mission that we left to chance. Okay, we spent months preparing, practicing every scenario, building contingency plans and rehearsing until success felt inevitable. Why? Because high stakes situations. If you plan to fail I mean, if you don't plan you're planning to fail. Okay, so weight loss isn't combat, but it's a battle against time, it's a battle against habits and it's even a battle against your own mindset. Okay, so most men fail at weight loss not because they're lazy or they lack discipline, but because they don't have a plan, and that's what I'm here to change.
Speaker 1:So here's a three-step mission plan for weight loss. Number one. You have to define what needs to happen. Okay, start by defining what exactly is success. What are the daily actions that I need to take to hit my goal? Could be eating on protocol, prepping your meals, tracking your food, getting your workouts done. Write it all down. Think of this as like your mission objectives. Without them, you're just flying blind. Now, for most men, this looks like hitting at least 30 grams of protein at each meal, training three to four days a week, and a lot of people say, ok, get 10,000 steps in a day. Small actions like this, executed consistently, lead to big wins.
Speaker 1:Number two identify obstacles before they happen. Right, we all have things that just kind of pop up in our lives. You have to think about all the things that can derail you, things like not having groceries or temptations at social events, those sweet tooth cravings that pop up late at night. Write these down and then, for each obstacle, ask yourself what am I going to do if this happens? Right? What am I going to do if I get invited to a barbecue? If you know your friends are going to order pizza during game night, what are you going to do? Plan to eat beforehand, choose a protein-heavy option, bring your own food. It's that simple. Just plan In the SEALs. We plan for comms, failures, bad weather, missed targets, you name it.
Speaker 1:Okay, weight loss is no different. You have to have contingencies. If I don't have groceries, what am I going to do? I'm going to keep healthy snacks, like beef jerky or almond candy. Like I said, going to a barbecue. Focus on what you can eat right. Focus on the protein and avoid the sugary sides. Make the decision ahead of time so that you're not trying to make the decision in the moment.
Speaker 1:Build strategy Number three. Build strategies and skills to overcome these obstacles. Okay, make it laser focused. Like strategies, they are your secret weapon. So, set a Sunday meal prep routine right so that you're not having to worry about where am I going to get my food. Commit to a consistent workout schedule, even if it's just 20 minutes a day. Learn to say no or, better yet, learn to enjoy just one bite of dessert and move on. These small actions and making these decisions ahead of time make all the difference over time. Remember, success isn't about perfection. It's about consistently making better choices. Every small victory reinforces that mission success.
Speaker 1:Now I'm going to talk about a guy that was in one of my coaching groups. Okay, and we'll call him Mike. He was, I think, about 43, working 60 hours a week. He tried every diet under the sun, but he hit a turning point. And what was that turning point? He treated his weight loss like a personal mission. He wrote down his goals, planned his meals and anticipated obstacles like client dinners or weekend cravings. And at the end of eight weeks, he dropped 15 pounds or more and, more importantly, he gained confidence in his ability to follow through. That's what planning does.
Speaker 1:When you think of weight loss as a mission, you stop seeing it as something that might happen if you're lucky. Instead, it becomes a goal that you're committed to achieving. There's no excuses, no guesswork, and here's the kicker Every time you stick to your plan, you're building the discipline that spills into every area of your life. Now here's your mission for today Write down your weight loss mission plan. Write down three daily actions that you're going to take this week, simple things like hitting your protein target, prepping your meals or getting 10,000 steps. Then list all the obstacles that you'll face next and plan how you're going to overcome them. It's going to take some thought to think about all the different little things that might pop up, but once you write all those down, then you're going to write down how you're going to overcome those things that pop up. Then share your plan with a partner or, better yet, join our community for accountability.
Speaker 1:If you're serious about transforming your health and living as a highly effective man that you were born to be, I want to invite you to join the highly effective man community that I have on school.
